For Overboard Recovery, Boarding Ladder and Emergency Stretcher
The SOLAS approved Fibre-lite Cradle is a marine safety device designed for man overboard recovery.
The Fibre-Lite Cradle can also serve as a boarding ladder, scramble net, and stretcher.
The Fibre-Lite Cradle is lighter, more compact, and more versatile than any similar device on the market.
The cradle has no working parts and therefore does not require servicing;
the only requirements are regular inspections by the ship's crew and minimal maintenance.
The cradle can also be easily rolled and stowed.
The Fibre-Lite Cradle is primarily designed for use by rescue craft, rigid inflatables, ship lifeboats,
and marinas for MOB recovery; however, it can have multiple other uses.
The Cradle forms a robust scramble net and a temporary stretcher for immediate casualty evacuation.
It can also recover persons from falls into trenches, ditches, or similar.
Float Sets are available for those who prefer the outboard end to float on the water.
SOLAS regulation III/17-1 requires that All ships shall have ship-specific plans and procedures for recovering persons from the water, considering the guidelines developed by the Organization.
Ships with Keels laid on/after 1 July 2014 will be required to comply with this resolution.
Ships constructed before 1 July 2014 shall comply with this requirement by the ship's first periodical or renewal
safety equipment survey to be carried out after 1 July 2014, whichever comes first.
The Fibre-Lite Cradle allows MOB recovery to be made by one capable person.
One end of the cradle is secured to the craft, and the outboard end is held outwards by hand, boat hook, or bridle.
The incapable person is then guided into the cradle, and the outboard end is hauled by rung.
The person is then safely rolled over the side and into the craft.
Cradle Floats are available for those who require the outboard end to stay on top of the water.
